Monitors on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge

The world's longest sea-crossing span, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, opened to traffic on 24th Oct 2018 in the southern city of Zhuhai after its inauguration a day earlier by President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. The $20 billion megaproject further connects mainland China with the semi-autonomous territories of Hong Kong and Macau, with a 55-kilometer (34-mile) road bridge that has been in the works for almost nine years.

The crossing connects three key coastal cities in southern China - Hong Kong, Macau and Zhuhai. The bridge, designed to withstand earthquakes and typhoons, was built using 400,000 tonnes of steel, enough to build 60 Eiffel Towers. About 30km of its total length crosses the sea of the Pearl River delta. To allow ships through, a 6.7km section in the middle dips into an undersea tunnel that runs between two artificial islands. The remaining sections are link roads, viaducts and land tunnels connecting Zhuhai and Hong Kong to the main bridge.

In this enormous programme, Codel Technology provides Tunnel COVI sensors, Air Flow Meters, Illumination Meters, Pressure Sensors, Temperature Sensors, Weather Detectors (Bridge and Island) and a number of other equipment. They provide a safe and reliable environment for driving across bridges by monitoring the basic data of roads in real time all day and providing fault information and danger warning in time. Codel Technology actively coordinates and communicates during the project, which ensures the requirements of equipment quality, and also meets the construction progress and operation requirements.
